Artist Olivia Rodrigo won two awards in the categories of Favourite Breakout Artist (music) and Favourite Female TV star (kids) for “High School Musical: The Musical: Series” at the 2022 Kids’ Choice Awards held on Saturday, 9th April. The award show was hosted by NFL star Rob Gronkowski and iCarly (2007) as well as Drake and Josh’s fame Miranda Cosgrove, the ceremony took place in Santa Monica, California. Hit singer Billie Elish bagged two awards in Favourite Song and Favourite Album categories, as a matter fact Billie Elish earned the Favourite Song award for the second time as earlier she won the same for her track “Bad Guy”. Billie Elish has become the fifth artist to earn two awards in the category of Favourite Song at the Kids’ Choice Awards, which in 1987, after Beyonce, Ariana Grande, One Direction etc.
BTS earned the award in the Favourite Group category for the third time successively, securing their position with One Direction, Fifth Harmony and Black Eyed Pead. Olivia Rodrigo and BTS expressed their gratitude to fans through brief footage, Justin Bieber had been bestowed with the award for Favourite Male Artist five times but this year he lost it to Ed Sheeran. Adele won the award for Favourite Global Music Star, last year the same was earned by the BTS.
Rapper Jack Harlow performed his track “Industry Baby” at the award ceremony and artist Kid Cudi gave a performance of his song “Pursuit of Happiness”.The Nickelodeon event had one thousand guests including the performing singers, the hosts etc. The award ceremony featured teaser of animated action-adventure movie called “DC League of Super-Pets” with Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart and Keanu Reeves as the voice artists and another animated movie on martial arts titled “Paws of Fury: The Legend of Hank” with Ricky Gervais and Samuel Jackson as voice actors.
“Encanto” won the Favourite Animated Movie award, Zendaya bagged the Favourite Movie Actress award, Spider Man: No Way Home earned Favourite Movie, SpongeBob SquarePants won the Favourite Cartoon award and “Minecraft” bagged the Favourite Video Game.
