South Korean artists such as BTS, Psy, and BLACKPINK have completely altered the global landscape of K-pop music. Another all-boy band, SEVENTEEN, is stepping into their shoes and is about to release their first English-language single, titled ‘Darl+ing.’ The music group has recently teased fans with concept photos and promo for their upcoming track, which has fans excited.
The 13-member act’s first English-language single will serve as a prelude to SEVENTEEN’s heartfelt stories for their fans—CARATs—around the world, arriving ahead of their full-length album’s May release. The previously revealed title poster revealed the upcoming single’s title to be “Darl+ing,” stylized with the addition of a plus sign to the affectionate term used to address a beloved.
The group recently released the trailer for their single, which is accentuated with summer hues as well as soft-colored backdrops. The teaser video starts with what appears to be a sunlit memory wall with photos and notes from the entire gang. Meanwhile, the use of smiley emoticons and sunflowers adds a new layer of warmth to their vibrant teaser. Despite the fact that the video only shows a snippet of the track’s beat without lyrics, the tempo suggests that ‘Darl+ing’ will be a heartwarming rendition of the group. As global fans countdown the days until the release, the K-pop creatives have also announced a collaboration project with Apple. In honour of the new single’s release and the opening of Apple’s new store in Korea, SEVENTEEN and Apple will host the first-ever K-pop Today at Apple Remix session, which will feature “Darl+ing.” Attendees of the Remix Session will learn more about the band’s creative process and be guided through the creation of a one-of-a-kind remix of the new track using GarageBand and Apple’s devices. The session will first be available in Korea, and then in Apple stores throughout Asia.
