Netflix recently announced that Laura Dern and Liam Hemsworth are set to join the star cast of the streaming service’s new film ‘Lonely Planet’. In addition, Susannah Grant, an academy award nominee is also set to write and direct the film. It has not been revealed what the plot will be, but we do know it will be filed in Morocco. 3dot Productions, which has a multi-year deal with the streamer, will produce with Liza Chasin at the helm. The show will also be produced by Sarah Timberman and Grant, with Netflix’s Kira Goldberg supervising.
There is yet to be any news about what character Liam and Laura will be portraying or how their path will collide. Fans may be eagerly awaiting the next installment of the names already attached to the production, but there is no release date in sight. Hemsworth, an Emmy-nominated actor, appears in the thriller Arkansas. The film would be based on a novel of the same name by John Brandon, with Hemsworth playing the role opposite Vince Vaughn, Vivica A. Fox, and John Malkovich.
Meanwhile, Dern is also set to return to the world of dinosaurs with Jurassic World Dominion. In 2020 Laura won her first Academy Award for her performance in Marriage Story. Additionally, Grant, who will also join Lonely Planet as a producer, most recently earned widespread acclaim for her role on Netflix’s Unbelievable. The showrunner, writer, director, and executive producer, Grant has been working on the true-crime series with Tony Collette, Merritt Wever, and Kaitlyn Dever. Grant has also given some of the industry’s biggest hits which include Erin Brokovich, The Soloist, and In Her Shoes.
