A Black Lady Sketch Show premieres on HBO Max on April 8, the show is created by Robin thede and comprises of sketches starred and made by Black women comedians. The main cast are Robin Thede, Ashley Nicole Black, Skye Townsend and Gabrielle Dennis. As the show progresses, the sketches become more bold and shamelessly hilarious as per the movie reviewers. A Blakc Lady Sketch Show earned eight nominations in the Primetime Emmy Awards and won the Outstanding Picture Editing For Variety Programming for Season 2.
It is being said that season 3 will have a multitude of guest stars such as Wanda Sykes, Kyla Pratt, Jemele Hill, Raven-Symone, Michaela Jae Rodriguez, Holly Robinson Peete, Loni Love, Shangela, Trevor Jackson, Jay Pharoah, Essence Atkins, Cari Champion, Vanessa Williams, Kel Mitchell, Michael Ealy, Lance Reddick, Tommy Davidson, Jidenna, David Alan Grier, Raven-Symone, Loni Love, Bob The Drag Queen etc. The series can be watched on HBO Max and viewers will have to buy subscrption, the streaming offers a range of hit films and series.
Ashley Nicole Black, one of the actors and writers of A Black Lady Sketch Show, gave an interview to Entertainment Tonight and expressed that she is thrilled to break the barriers and serve as a performer as well a writer which was not possible earlier for Black women in Hollywood, telling, “You’d have to pick one or people weren’t taking you seriously. Now, I can turn on the TV and see them. And it’s such a great feeling to get to witness all of that and to like, frankly, be alive in a time where women get to do comedy at this level because it’s not like women weren’t this talented before.” Ashley Nicole Black was a writer for the show Full Frontal with Samantha Bee and bagged a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for the same.
