One Of The Founders Of A Bronx Hip Hop Group Will Spend The Rest Of His Life In Jail

Kidd Creole who is one of the founding members of the hip hop group called the Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five formed in 1978, has been found guilty of murdering a homeless man in the year 2017, according to the New York Times. The trial of the rap artist Kidd Creole whose real and legal name is Nathaniel Glover started in New York City more than a week ago. The Manhattan District Attorney told in an interview to ABC7 New York, “Nathaniel Glover committed a shocking act of violence. This conviction makes clear my office will hold people who commit violent crime accountable to the full extent of the law.”

As per the prosecutors, the victim named John Jolly was stabbed in his chest two times by Nathaniel Glover around midnight on August, 2017 after Jolly had asked Glover “What’s up?”. Glover was on his way to work in Manhattan during the murder. However, his lawyer named Scottie Celestin contended that his clinet Glover was acting in self-defense and feared for his life, telling the jury in the case, “Ladies and gentlemen, this is New York City. It’s 12 o’clock at night. Who’s saying ‘What’s up?’ to you with good intentions? His fear for his life was reasonable.” Media contacted with Scottie Celestin for more comments but did not get any response so far.

Meanwhile, Manhattan Assistant District Attorney Mark Dahl told the jury that the former rapper had confessed to the NYPD that he did not killed the homeless man who was 55 years old in self-defense, emphasizing that Nathaniel Glover thought John Jolly was hitting on him. Mark Dahl said to ABC7 New York, “The defendant confessed to pulling out a kitchen knife and repeatedly thrusting it into the body of a stranger on the street, killing him. Was there anything that would prevent him from simply running away from Mr Jolly? No.” Nathaniel Glover’s sentencing date is set on May 4th this year.
