A24 has confirmed the release of director Joe Talbot’s next film The Governesses. The script, which is based on Anne Serre’s novel, was co-written by Talbot and poet/novelist Olivia Gatwood (Life of the Party). Renate Reinsve (Cannes Best Actress Award Winner and BAFTA Best Actress Nominee), Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol), HoYeon (Squid Game), and Lily-Rose Depp (The Idol) will all star in the film. HoYeon Jung, the star of the Squid Game and a model, is adding another big name to her resume. The actor, who was just cast in Apple TV+’s upcoming series Disclaimer, also appeared in The Weeknd’s “Out of Time” music video. Following the release of The Last Black Man In San Francisco, this is Talbot’s second collaboration with A24. The film will be shot in Spain and will be in front of the cameras soon.
The story revolves around three defiant governesses who upend the family they work in as well as the psyche of the lads in their charge. As a result, the trio enthrals the bohemian couple that employs them, and they ditch their charges for sensual escapades. With Talbot’s Longshot Features’ Rob Richert and Angus Lamont, Element Pictures’ Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe will produce. Along with A24, BBC Film will co-finance. BBC Film provided help for the project’s development.
The movie will be distributed worldwide by A24. They have one of the most outstanding slates of films coming out, and you can know that if they put their stamp on it, you can anticipate a certain degree of excellence. Because Talbot’s previous film, The Last Black Man in San Francisco, was so good, there will be high expectations for this one too. That’s a fantastic cast, as previously said, A24 is now functioning on a different level, and these nearly weekly announcements ensure that we will have something to look forward to in cinemas for months to come.
