Season 3 of “Sweet Magnolias”: Netflix Renewal Status and What to Expect

Sweet Magnolias is one of Netflix’s best in-house feel-good series, and season 2 was released two months ago. We’re still unsure if we’ll be returning to Serenity. Here’s everything we know about Sweet Magnolias season 3 so far, as well as how Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias fared on Netflix.
The show is based on Sherryl Woods’ novel series, and while there are some differences between the story told in the book and what we’ve seen on screen, the show has plenty of other sources to draw from. So, let’s take a look at the chances for a third season of Sweet Magnolias and what we can expect.

We finally got a second season of Sweet Magnolias just a few months shy of two years after it first premiered in May 2020. We haven’t heard anything about the show’s future two months after season 2 ended.
Sweet Magnolias, unlike some of the other shows in the genre, hasn’t been renewed in advance, so it’ll all come down to viewership and the series’ “stickiness.”
What we mean is that when Netflix calculates what’s known as adjusted view share, it will take into account the show’s viewership as well as other factors.

Our initial assessment is that the show still has a strong fan base and is one of the few shows that can appeal to a wide audience across the United States, making it highly likely to be renewed. With new information, we’re less confident in its return. So far in 2022, Netflix has been a bit “trigger happy,” and while we’re still leaning toward renewal, we’ve adjusted our prediction to a 50/50 split.
The show was mentioned during Netflix’s recent quarterly earnings, with Ted Sarandos stating that it was one of his wife’s favourites.

Early indications suggest that Sweet Magnolias will be one of Netflix’s most popular shows in 2022.
The arrival of season 2 coincided with an increase in viewership for the first season. Between February 6th and February 13th, Season 1 received 21.64 million hours of viewing.
The series received 161,300,000 hours of global viewing between January 30th and March 6th, 2022 (the first 30 days on the platform).
We can look at how the show is performing on Google Trends and IMDb’s Movie Meter in addition to viewing statistics.

The Movie Meter on IMDb tracks inbound traffic to individual show and movie pages. It gives you a good idea of how popular shows are compared to those on other networks. The first season of the show peaked at #4 in its first week, while the second season only managed to reach #15 in its second week.
Season 2 concludes with a slew of cliffhangers, carrying on the tradition established in season 1.
Cal is escorted away in cuffs at the end of the second season after a proposal and a confrontation in the restaurant. We also know that someone has returned after the main trio saw footage of Sullivan’s delivery van’s tires being slashed.

Helen (Heather Headley) had a difficult time in Season 2 due to a series of traumatic events, but the season ended with Ryan proposing to her. Season 3 will most likely begin with her decision.
