What We Know So Far About the Netflix Animation Series “Wings of Fire”

Netflix is developing a new event series called Wings of Fire, based on author Tui T. Sutherland’s fantasy novel series of the same name, in order to increase its output of fantasy anime content. If you enjoy watching dragons on screen, this could be right up your alley!
Tui T. Sutherland first announced the project via Netflix in April 2021.
Dan Milano (Robot Chicken, Greg the Bunny, Warren the Ape), Christa Starr (Warren the Ape), and Justin Ridge (Warren the Ape) are the showrunners for Wings of Fire (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels). The series’ technical director is David S. Cheng (Megamind, Avatar, How to Train Your Dragon).

Ava DuVernay’s ARRAY production company is producing the film. Executive producer Tui T. Sutherland is also a member of the creative team.
Warner Bros. Animation will be in charge of bringing the world of Wings of Fire to life for Netflix, according to our sources. Green Eggs and Ham, as well as the upcoming Skull Island anime about King Kong, are among their Netflix collaborations.
Violaine Briat, who serves as episodic director, Lila Martinez, who serves as a storyboard artist on the project, and Jean-Denis Haas, who serves as an animation supervisor, are among the names we’ve found involved in the series.

Lila Martinez works on the project as a Storyboard Artist and provides some insight into the show’s production process and animation style.
Audrey Diehl is the showrunner for the Warner Brothers Animation series Wings of Fire. Jess Choi works as a production executive for Netflix on the project.
Wings of Fire will reportedly have ten episodes on Netflix. Their exact duration is still unknown, but evidence suggests that they will last between 40 and 60 minutes.
It’s unclear whether the series will be limited to a single season. Limited series and event series are often confused, as they are the same thing, but we’ll have to wait and see what happens next.

According to multiple staffers on the project, production on the series has been ongoing since August 2021. However, it was most likely going on for much longer.
The Wings of Fire series has yet to receive a release date from Netflix, but given how long animation takes, we shouldn’t expect it any time soon. Given the length of time it took to develop games like The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf or Arcane, even a 2023 release date may be optimistic.
