MCU is all set to come back with another Marvel superhero movie, Thor: Love and Thunder. Based on the Marvel Comics character of the same name, the movie is the direct sequel to Thor: Ragnarok and the 29th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The movie was officially announced in July 2019, it is the fourth movie in the Thor saga and is scheduled to release on July 8, 2022. Starring Chris Hemsworth as the main character Thor, the movie will witness a new villain Gorr, played by previous Batman, Christian Bale. As per Director Taika Waititi, the film would adapt elements from Jason Aaron’s run on The Mighty Thor comic book.
Natalie Portman will reprise her role as Jane Foster, Thor’s ex-girlfriend who is battling cancer. According to Jason Aaron’s comic book, Thor might resign from his position and pass on his mantle to Jane who will then serve as ‘Lady Thor’. She gains power from Thor but the only disadvantage of this power is that every time she becomes Lady Thor, she will lose the benefits of her cancer treatment and might ultimately die. It will be interesting to see how the writers will fix this situation. The movie will end the iconic Marvel superhero character of Thor. According to the latest updates, Thor: Love and Thunder will end the character of Thor with him dying of the flu and passing the hammer onto his successor, Jane Foster.
Although romance is not Marvel’s cup of tea, we might expect some romantic moments between Thor and Jane. In an interview, Waititi said, “What I wanted to do from the beginning was to ask: ‘What are people expecting the least from this franchise?’ Oh, I know – a full-blown love story!” “I want to make something that I’ve never done or never cared for. I would like to attack something like that, ” he told BBC News. Alongside Chris Hemsworth and Christian Bale, the cast also includes Tessa Thompson, Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel, Sean Gunn, Jeff Goldblum, and Jaimie Alexander.
