Euphoria’s Season 3 Will Be Full Of Twists And Suspense

Euphoria's season 3 will focus on the unanswered questions

Euphoria’s season 2 has ended but fans are looking forward to season 3, the HBO series which started in 2019 achieved unprecedented viewership. Euphoria is now officially the second most-watched series in the history of HBO after Game of Thrones as 6.6 million viewers watched the finale of season 2 and each episode of the season has a viewership of 16.3 million. In addition to the viewership, the series achieved top priority in Twitter discourse. Fans on Twitter have time and again made theories, argued about the plot and circulated memes, in fact Twitter authorities revealed that Euphoria has become the most-tweeted-about series. On February 4, 2022, HBO announced Euphoria’s season 3 is confirmed, Executive Vice President of HBO Programming said, “Sam, Zendaya, and the entire cast and crew of Euphoria have taken Season 2 to extraordinary heights, challenging narrative convention and form, while maintaining its heart. We couldn’t be more honored to work with this gifted, wildly talented team or more excited to continue our journey with them into Season 3.”

Seasons 1 and 2 of Euphoria had eight episodes with season 2 featuring two special episodes titled “F**k Anyone Who’s Not A Sea Blob” and “Trouble Don’t Last Always”, it is likely that third season will also have eight episodes. Season 2’s ending left many unanswered questions in the minds of viewers, hence we can hope to see them addressed. The story of Zendaya’s character Rue is based on director Sam Levinson’s real life experience, therefore she will continue to be the main character of the show. Almost all the main cast will be back in season 3 which includes Zendaya reprising Rue Bennet, Hunter Schafer playing Jules Vaughn, Sydney Sweeney as Cassie Howard, Alexa Demie as Maddy Perez, Maude Apatow portraying Lexi Howard. On the matter of additional cast, Dominic Fike in an interview with late night host Jimmy Fallon on February said Elliot’s character will be a part of season 3. One of the biggest speculations is regarding the characters of Fezco and Ashtray, fans have questioned the death of Ashtray after season 2 ended.

Javon Walton who plays Ashtray told Entertainment Weekly in an interview, “Well you see Fez get arrested, so I’m sure he is going to be in the back of a cop car. And with Ashtray, we’re not 100 percent if he’s dead, because you saw absolutely no blood, right? And you didn’t see him fall. You did hear the bullet, but you didn’t see him get shot. So, there are little things that could potentially bring him back for another season.” Currently, there is no trailer of Euphoria season 3 but a teaser featured which showed the series logo and a big three behind it.

Euphoria has not began filming as of yet, earlier season 2 was delayed owing to the pandemic and was released after two years. Since the show’s lead Zendaya is busy in other projects which include a sequel to her Oscar-winning Dune, it is most likely that Euphoria’s season 3 will premiere either in late 2023 or early 2024. A reporter named Kirbie Johnson tweeted on 1st March that the series’s make-up artist heard that production will start this year, writing, “Each episode takes a month to film, so by the time it goes through post, it’s safe to expect a 2024 release.”
