Minx is a series on HBO Max which explores feminism during the 1970s America via a woman who runs an erotic magazine for women. The topic is quite bold and innovative, Paul Feig is its executive producer. Fieg is a very prominent director who have made popular movies such as The Heat(2013), which stars Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy, Spy(2015), which has Rose Byrne in it and Bridesmaids(2011). Considering Paul Feig’s experience of making successful and entertaining women-centric films, it is more than likely that Minx will live up to the expectations of the audience.
Season 1 of Minx premiered by dropping two episodes on March 17th this year, the show’s first season has eight episodes and two episodes will be released on the HBO Max platform every Thursday and the episodes three and four of the series were released on March 24th. The series is comedy and focuses on a woman who is a writer and is trying use her talent and aspirations to change the publishing industry during the 1970s. The protagonist wants to increase the role of women in the publishing industry but unfortunately her attempts at selling her idea doesn’t impress old White men who own the publishing industry. Therefore, she chooses a partnership which involves the publishing of first erotic magazine for women.
HBO narrated the plot of Minx, “In the 1970s, Joyce is a young feminist from Los Angeles who creates an unlikely bond with editor Doug as they set out to create the first women’s erotic magazine.” The main character of the show is actress Ophelia Lovibond, she did a role in Guardians of the Galaxy. Actor Jake Johnson, best known for playing the role of Nick Miller in Zooey Deschanel-starring New Girl(2011-2018) and film Let’s Be Cops(2014), will portray the role of Jake Johnson and other actors include Jessica Lowe, Idara Victor, Oscar Montoya etc.
Minx’s season 1 trailer provides a glimpse of what the show is all about. It seems witty and full of sarcasm. Since it is an HBO MAX Original series airing in America, so for anyone who wants to see this show they will have to buy the subscription of the streaming service which provides a horde of other interesting and blockbuster shows and movies.
