Jon Stewart Came To The Defense Of Pete Davidson

Jon Stewart and Pete Davidson

Jon Stewart expresses support for his friend Pete Davidson in the middle of Kanye West controversy. In his recent appearance on The Howard Stern Show, Jon Stewart talked about the ongoing escalating tensions between Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian’s ex husband Kanye West who has been constantly attacking him on social media. Jon defended Davidson. The veteran comedian has been friends with Davidson for years and in a conversation with Howard Stern, the former The Daily Show host said he has a “very paternal instinct” in terms of his relationship with Pete.

Talking about how the Saturday Night Live’s star has been holding it together in the publicized feud with Kanye West, Stewart came to the defense of Pete, saying, “I Know Pete real well. He’s just a kid trying to live his life. He’s one of my favourite people. He’s just a smart, funny kid trying to live his life.” He added that Davidson is doing the best he can in the “explosive situation”.

Stewart, who is 59 years old, conveyed that he has known Pete for years and narrated how they developed friendship in their early careers, saying, “Dave Chappelle and I were doing gigs in Boston and Houston, and Pete came out and performed. And him and John Mulaney worked near where I live in Jersey so I would go buy pizza from a place and we just go hang out and we just became friends from that.” Stewart also observed that comedy is a “f****d up” business, narrating that he has witnessed a lot of his friends get into trouble and therefore he is always keeping an eye on his close friends including John Mulaney and Pete Davidon.

Stewart is not the first comedian who publicly supported Pete in his fight with Kanye, in fact earlier Davidson’s SNL costars Chris Redd and Bowen Yang came to his defense. Yang told Entertainment Tonight during the Critics Choice Awards, “I think he’s just, you know, figuring it out, because I think a lot is out of his control, in terms of people’s responses. I think he’s just getting back to his comfort and I think that is the best thing he can do. We are all thinking about him, and we love him so much.”

Kim Kardashian and Pete Davidson first made it to the tabloids in October last year, kissing during a sketch on SNL when Kim made her hosting debut. After making their relationship public, Kanye West started attacking his estranged spouse and her new boyfriend.
