Sanditon‘ is a British historical period drama television series based on the unfinished manuscript by ‘Jane Austen’. Sanditon season 2 was premiered on March 20, 2022, and will air new episodes by Sunday, April 24 on PBS. The first season of the show was released in 2019. The series is created by ‘Andrew Davies’. The story follows Charlotte Heywood who moves to a tranquil fishing village named Sanditon attempting to recast itself as a seaside luxury resort. Soon Heywood finds out the interests and intentions of the village’s citizens.

In season 2 of the period drama, Sanditon continues to follow the high spirited and independent lead, Charlotte Heywood played by Rose Williams of Curfew as she comes back to the coastal resort of Sanditon. One drawback this season is that the character of Sidney Parker played by Theo James is missing. James has decided to not come back into the show. His character in the show has died so does any hopes of him returning in another season. Although his absence in the show is noticeable it is interesting to watch Charlotte wrestle with her grief and become stronger to face the world outside. As she searches for her place in the world, it guides her towards unanticipated paths and towards her two new love interests, Captain Declan Fraser (Frank Blake) and Captain William Carter (Maxim Ays). Charlotte’s journey is one thread of an intricate tapestry of compelling stories full of intrigue, excitement, and romance.

Sanditon struggled to find an audience during the release of season 1 in 2019. but with the release of the period drama, ‘Bridgerton’ in 2020, suddenly the audience becomes more interested in Historical period dramas. The show has many similarities to Bridgeton. The season introduces some new characters including Alexander Colbourne (Ben Lloyd-Hughes), Colonel Francis Lennox (Tom Weston-Jones), and Charles Lockhart (Alexander Vlahos). Season 2 of the show is filled with a lot of twists and turns and a romantic storyline.
