HBO drama series ‘The Gilded Age’ returning for another season

HBO has announced the return of its period drama ‘The Gilded Age‘ for another season. The news comes just after weeks from the last episode of the first season.

The news should not be surprising after the huge success of the first season, which aired on 24, January 2022, and became one of the most highly rated debut series on the network since Chernobyl which is an Emmy Awards-winning series.

Erin Underhill Universal Television President said in a statement “The first season of The Gilded Age is the beginning of an epic story that introduced a fascinating world full of intriguing characters. The scope of Julian’s vision is ambitious, and we’re thrilled to continue to explore the depths of this fascinating era with HBO”.The story revolves around Marian Brook a rural girl who moves to New York after her father’s death. However, things get complicated when she must assimilate into the clan of a railroad tycoon.

The cast of the series includes Carrie CoonCynthia Nixon, Morgan Spector, and many more. The last episode of the series was aired on the 21st March and fans will be excited about the announcement of the new season.HBO announced the possibility of a new season in a post on Instagram in February 2022, after the announcement of the Netflix Drama series Bridgerton season 2. Francesca Orsi, executive VP of programming at HBO earlier said “Julian Fellowes and the entire Gilded Age family have thoroughly captivated us with their tale of late 19th century New York City extravagance,”. “Along with our partners at Universal Television, we couldn’t be prouder to embark on a season two journey with this extraordinarily talented team.”: she added.

Even after the announcement, a release date is yet to get confirmed. The first season was 10 years in the making and was originally scheduled to be aired on NBC.
