It All Started With Pete Davidson, Resumed With Racist Attack On Trevor Noah and Ended Up With Kanye West Being Barred From Performing At The Grammy’s

It is official that Kanye West won’t be performing at this year’s upcoming Grammy Awards owing to his problematic behavior. The news came after the Grammy-winning artist was suspended from his account on Instagram after his last online tirade. West has been in the tabloids a lot for publicly attacking Pete Davidson in an attempt to get back with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian, he also took on Trevor Noah by using a racial slur in a post on Instagram which has been removed by the platform. The whole thing started when Kardashian, after seven years of marriage, filed for divorce from Kanye in February last year and ever since the finalization of her divorce has been dating SNL star and comedian Pete Davidson. The former couple have four children together and Kim said she wants “nothing but a healthy and supportive co-parenting relationship” but “Kanye continues to make it impossible every step of the way”. Kanye’s actions have been deemed as harassment and stalking.

Kim Kardashian in a statement on February said, “Divorce is difficult enough on our children and Kanye’s obsession with trying to control and manipulate our situation so negatively and publicly is only causing further pain for all.” Now, during a segment on The Daily Show, Trevor Noah talked about the ongoing feud between West, Davidson and Kim. Noah brought into light Kanye’s attitude towards Kardashian and said, “What she is going through is terrifying to watch, and it shines a spotlight on what so many women go through when they choose to leave.” The talk-show host drew parallel Kim’s situation with that of his mother. He went on to narrate his childhood ordeal of his mother Patricia being shot in the head by his abusive stepfather. Noah recalled how people used to tell his mother that she was “overreacting”.

In a now-deleted post, West responded to Noah by using racial slurs. He posted a picture of Noah and used an offensive racist term against Black people in the caption. Noah responded to West in the comment section of the post in which he wrote, “There are few artists who have had more of an impact on me than you Ye. You took samples and turned them into symphonies. You took your pain and through the wire turned it into performance perfection. You’re an indelible part of my life Ye. Which is why it breaks my heart to see you like this. I don’t care if you support Trump and I don’t care if you roast Pete. I do however care when I see you on a path that’s dangerously close to peril and pain. You have every right to fight for your family. But you have to know the difference between that and fighting your family”.

As soon as Kardashian’s legal separation got finalised, West released a video of his song “Easy”, which showed an animated version of the rapper abducting, tying up and killing a figure similar to Davidson. Pete Davidson recently in an interview with People TV called Kim his girlfriend and she told Ellen DeGeneres show that Davidson had a tattoo on his chest dedicated to her. Since Noah will be hosting this year’s Grammy, West has been barred from performing at the ceremony despite being nominated in five categories.
