‘Sissy Spacek’ & ‘J.K. Simmons’ starrer series ‘Lightyears’ gets a premiere date and a new title

Prime video has revealed the release date and a new title for their upcoming science-fiction drama series ‘Night Sky’. Sissy Spacek and J.K. Simmons starrer will be streamed on Prime Video on May 20, 2022, in more than 240 countries and territories. Night Sky, which was formerly planned to release under the title ‘Lightyears‘, will comprise of total eight episodes. All episodes will be available exclusively on Prime Video on May 20 and all of them will be released at the same time.

‘Night Sky’ is a story of a young couple, Irene and Franklin York (played by Spacek and Simmons, respectively), who are hiding a secret for years. Beneath the couple’s backyard, there is a hidden pathway that leads them to a distant deserted planet. After years of guarding their incomprehensible secret, their lives have been turned upside down by the entry of a young guy called, Jude, played by ‘Chai Hansen’ who guides them that the mystery is much more complex than they had ever imagined. The series will span both space and time.

Night Sky is a co-production of Amazon Studios and Legendary Television (Carnival Row, Paper Girls) and is written and co-executive produced by Holden Miller, with Daniel C. Connolly serving as showrunner and executive producer. The executive producer of the series is Mosaic’s Jimmy Miller and Sam Hansen along with Emmy and BAFTA Award-winner Philip Martin. Along with Sissy Spacek, J.K. Simmons, and Chai Hansen, the cast of the series also involves Adam Bartley, Julieta Zylberberg, Rocío Hernández, Kiah McKirnan, Stephen Louis Grush, Cass Buggé, and Beth Lacke. The series is programmed with a lot of adventure, mystery and drama.

Sissy Spacek has been away from the spotlight for quite some time now. This is her first series after ‘Homecoming’, in 2018 while Simmons who previously gave his voice to the animated series ‘Invincible’, is nominated for an Academy Award for his part in ‘Being the Ricardos’. Prime Video is no stranger to sci-fi and futuristic shows thus fans have high hopes for the series.
