Barcelona witnessed a revival under Xavi to another level which made the rival team Real Madrid suffer an unprecedented defeat of 4-0 in El Clasico. Real Madrid were performing well in the last few years, managed to win the five meetings in all matches and began their day fifteen points clear of Barcelona in La Liga, but were confronted by a revived Barcelona which gave one of the most humiliating defeats in football history. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored two goals and helped his fellow teammate Ferran Torres in a goal. Ronald Araujo also managed to score. Aubameyang has become a sportsperson who scored nine goals in his eleven appearances ever since leaving Arsenal.

Real Madrid suffered chaos and couldn’t coordinate well due to Karim Benezma, who suffered injury in his calf. Carle Ancelotti altered the shape of his runaway league leader during the break but it didn’t change the path of the match as Barcelona thrived 3-0 when Ferran Torres scored well after getting assistance from Aubameyang. Thibaut Courtois. who is the goal keeper of Real Madrid, missed and Aubameyang scored his second within fifty minutes of start of the match. Initially, his goal was not counted as it was being said that Torres was offside but the video assistant referee ruled in favour of Barca. This will remain a prominent game for Barca fans as the team delivered a clear message.

For the first El Clasico victory after seven endeavors, Xavi Hernandez, the manager of La Liga club Barcelona said, “We’re very happy, very satisfied for all the Barca supporters. The meaning of this victory, I think it can change, more or less, the dynamics of the present and also of the future. That’s the first thing I want to say. As far as the game, we had understood that Luka Modric and Toni Kroos were out, and we looked for the backs of the interior players of Real Madrid.” After putting the ball in the goal, Aubameyang grabbed a ball from a fan and made a reference to the popular anime character of Goku in Dragon Ball Z. Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti. the manager of club Real Madrid took the blame, “My strategy has not been good. It didn’t get a very good result. I don’t know, that’s all. I have not made a good strategy in trying to defeat Barca. It’s not a problem to take on the responsibility, because I didn’t prepare for the game correctly.”

Real Madrid will play against Chelsea in Champions League after a trip to Celta Vigo in April while Barca will host Sevilla on April 3.
