Netflix’s period drama series “Bridgerton” is returning with season 2 premiering on March 25. Season 1 tried to ingratiate the world with its fun and romance. The chemistry between Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor) and Duke of Hastings (Rege-Jean Page) was on fire with both of them falling head over heels for each other. They got married in the middle of the season and the rest half of the season follows with the couple’s many emotional time bombs.
Season 2 of the series follows the story of the eldest Bridgerton and Daphne’s big brother, Anthony Bridgerton. Anthony, who recently had his heartbroken by his opera-singer lover in Season 1, has resolved to finally find his perfect bride and needs to take love out of the equation. He is determined to find a viscountess. Following the events, a new Indian family has arrived in the show, ‘The Sharmas’. Edwina wants to marry “a prince or duke” while her older sister Kate and Eleanor urges her to marry for love. Kate is a protective older sister who is of too advanced years to find a husband of her own. When he meets the self-proclaimed Kate (Simone Ashley), though there is an instant connection, he opts for her younger sister, the wide-eyed Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran) believing her to be a more suitable match for him. She’s sharp and well accompanied unlike Kate, who challenges him. Forbidden love is nothing new for a costume drama, or indeed Julia Quinn’s romance novel series from which this show takes its inspiration.
Eloise Bridgerton (Claudia Jessie) still spends her time finding out the real identity of Lady Whistledown but still can’t figure out that it’s her own best friend, Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan). It has been a bummer that the writers exposed Lady Whistledown’s identity so soon in the show. Now, it’s not that exciting knowing Penelope is the gossipmonger behind all the gossips in the town. Penelope is still focusing on his love interest in Colin Bridgerton.
