Starstruck’s season 2 is going to be released this month although in UK it has started premiering. The series will continue where it left off in the last season, the character of Jessie is in shock after learning that the guy she apparently hooked up with happened to be a Hollywood celebrity- actor Tom Kapoor- which changes her extremely tedious life. In Season 1, viewers saw Jessie and Tom being attracted to each other and a bond developing between them in spite of their backgrounds. It focused on both meeting for the first time on New Year’s Eve and being together till Christmas.
Continuing the storyline of last season, season 2 will be about what happens now since Jessie decided to continue living in London and have a relationship with Tom rather than going back to her home in New Zealand. The story implies that things will go south soon. Audience will also see Russel Tovey (Him and Her, 2010 and Being Human, 2008) portraying a troublesome movie director fighting with Tom. We will also get to see Tom’s family and some other new characters. The unexpected relationship between Tom and Jessie is going to be explored.
Rose Matafeo, a New Zealander comedian, actress and writer, will continue her role as Jessie and similary Tom’s character will be played by Nikesh Patel, a British actor best known for Four Weddings and a Funeral, 2019 and Indian Summers, 2015. Minnie Driver of Good Will Hunting, 1997 and Return to Me, 2000 fame, will resume her role of Tom’s agent named Cath.
A trailer of Starstruck’s season 2 has been made available by HBO Max and the full show is going to be released on March 24th. In a statement the broadcasting company said, “After her grand gesture at the end of season one, in season two, Jessie must deal with the real-world consequences of deciding to stay and pursue a relationship with Tom, rather than sticking to her original plan of returning home to New Zealand”.
