Pixar’s recently released animated movieTurning Red breaks the Disney+ global viewership opening record. The movie was premiered on March 11, soon after its release, it breaks down all Disney+ opening records. Bao director, Domee Shi has directed the movie. The film was produced by Lindsey Collins, Dan Scanlon, and Pete Docter and distributed with Walt Disney Studios Motion pictures. The film stars ‘Rosalie Chiang’ as ‘Mei Lee’, ‘Maitreyi Ramakrishnan’ as ‘Priya’, ‘Ava Morse’ as Miriam, ‘Sandra Oh’ as ‘Ming Lee’ and ‘Addie Chandler’ as ‘Devon’.

The film centers around a 13- year old Chinese-Canadian teenage girl,’ Meilin Lee‘ living in Toronto and finding her way through life, struggling between the challenges of puberty and her strict family. She is considered to be a weirdo as she lives her own life and is an obedient child. As this was not enough, one day Mei transformed into a ‘red panda’, this happens every time she experiences a state of strong emotions. Nearly a week after the film was released, it has received a lot of criticism from some of the viewers however, Disney has revealed that the movie has now set a new bar for the streaming platforms.

Although ‘Turning Red’ has proven to be another hit from Pixar, many of the critics are still questioning the performance of the film. Some of them are wondering whether or not the film could have performed this well if it has been solely released in the theatres. The movie talks about the challenges a teenager would face during adolescence, as a result, some parents said that it would be inappropriate to watch the movie with their small kids. On the other hand, other viewers appreciated the humor in the movie and its quirky and culturally-rich storyline. The story also portrays the importance of friendship and a changing mother-daughter relationship.
