helena bonham carter to return for enola holmes 2 002

Viewers will be glad to know that Enola Holmes’s sequel is coming on Netflix. Netflix has announced the release date of the film as well as its synopsis. The preview trailer has also been unveiled. Since the film is based on Nancy Springer’s book series titled “The Enola Holmes Mysteries”, we will probably witness the story of the second book titled “The Case of the Left-Handed Lady”. Filming has ended and the first film in the series- Enola Holmes- started in July, 2019 and released in September, 2020, therefore following the pattern, it is safe to predict that it will arrive on the streaming platform in summer of this year. Milly Bobby Brown said, “Enola holds a special place in my heart- she’s strong, fearless, intelligent and brave. I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!”

In the first movie, audience is introduced to Enola Holmes who happens to be the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes and she lives with her mother named Eudoria in late nineteenth century England. One day, Enola wakes up on her sixteenth birthday and finds her mother missing while birthday gifts lying around. She uncovers a secret message on the flower cards left by Eudoria and boards a train while disguised as a man. In train, she stumbles upon Viscount Tewkesbury who is also on the run from home but is oblivious that a hitman, Linthorn, wants to murder him. Enola manages to save Tewkesbury from being killed and then they both go to London and go separate ways. Later she finds out, after following Eudoria’s hints, that her mother is a member of an extremist group of suffragettes (militants who advocated for women’s right to vote) when she finds explosives in a home. Enola meets Tewkesbury again to tell him that his life is in danger but she herself gets caught by Inspector Lestrade and sent to the boarding school on Mycroft’s orders.

While in boarding school, Enola is helped by Tewkesbury to flee and both learn that it was his uncle who attempted to murder him. Soon they both are confronted by Tewkesbury’s grandma who wants him dead as he is going to vote in favor of women’s suffrage and shoots him but he survives. Enola then bids goodbye to Tewkesbury and returns to London only to find her mother Eudoria. Her mother explains the reason for her disappearance was fighting for women’s rights. In the sequel, we will see Enola under the guardianship of her brother Sherlock and since now she is a detective, the film will focus on her going on a path to uncover truth. As per the book, viewers may see her find an obscure collection of drawings belonging to a girl named Lady Cecily, who vanished without any sign. She will go on a quest to find and rescue the missing girl while hiding from her brother.

Henry Cavill (The Witcher and Man of Steel) will play Sherlock, Louis Partridge is going to portray Tewkesbury, Sam Claflin (Me Before You and Love, Rosie) will be Mycroft and Helena Bonham Carter (Alice in Wonderland) is Eudoria. Recently, a clip was released on social media, in which Partridge can be seen receiving a round of applause from the cast and crew as he wraps up. Last year Bobby Brown told EW in an interview, “I was like ‘Oh, yeah, I’ll just do one movie, like, obviously…’ and then as soon as I went on set and I played Enola, I fell in love with her, and she became part of my heart”.
