Courteney Cox starring in the Scream franchise revealed Scream 6 is all set to begin filming. Courteney portrays the role of Gale Weathers in the hit franchise. Cox returned to her iconic role of Gale Weathers with the debut of 2022 Scream premiered in January. She appeared as Weathers in the franchise from the start and now is gearing up for another one.
In classic Scream fashion, 2022’s Scream dusted off Wes Craven’s beloved franchise in a huge way, the film was a dissection of horror genre tropes. At the Box Office, Scream turned out to be a massive hit putting up a fight with Spiderman: No Way Home.
The success of the last movie from the franchise made the screening of Scream 6 inevitable. This made it seem like it’s going to be sooner than expected. In an appearance for Just For Variety, Cox confirmed that she already got the script and is expecting to film in June. She mentioned, I got the script yesterday. I haven’t read it yet, I just got it. I’m excited to read it, and I know they’re gonna start filming I think in June, in Canada. I don’t know if I’m supposed to say anything. Let me tell you the killer!
As of right now, a 2023 release window seems possible for Scream 6. The filming is going to start from June in Canada. Cox will return to Scream universe when she goes on set this summer, It is still unclear whether Neve Campbell’s Sydney Prescott will join Weathers on this adventure or not. Scream 6 does make a bit of sense from business perspective as the latest fil from the franchise was released after a decade ofSream4 creating a sense of nostalgia on audience for the particular horror film.
For now, audience can only hope for Sydney’s return as they await eagerly for the Scream 6 and the adventure of these two heroes.
