Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty and Pallavi Joshi, starrer THE KASHMIR FILES, releases today all over India. The film, The Kashmir Files story is based on video interviews of first generation victims of Genocide of Kashmir Pandits in 1990. The film had to face many legal concerns before hitting the cinemas.
Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, before hitting the cinemas, it had a PIL(Public Interest Litigation) filed against it. The PIL stated that the particular movie’s trailer depicted that involvement of Muslims in killing the Kashmiri Pandits, henceforth hurting religious sentiments of Muslim community. However, this PIL was dismissed by Bombay H.C saying that this movie is about Kashmiri Pandits and is inspired by true events.
Later on, Squadron leader Ravi Khanna’s wife filed a complaint against the film. After Nirmal Khanna, wife of the Late IAF officer claimed that the scenes depicting her husband were contrary to the facts, a Court in Jammu and Kashmir on 10th March’22, a day before the release of the film, restrained the promoters of the film from showing Lt. IAF Squadron leader Ravi Khanna in the movie. Ravi Khanna was one of the four IAF officer shot dead on 25th January 1990 at Srinagar.
Although the Court’s order did not stir the release of THE KASHMIR FILES on 11th March in theatres.
Yesterday(10th March’22), Anupam Kher shared a video on social media, expressing his feelings. In the mentioned video, he talked about the lives of Kashmiri Pandits in aforementioned incident with deep grief.
