The Killer, a Netflix noir thriller starring Michael Fassbender and Tilda Swinton, is presently in the works. Netflix bought the film’s rights from Paramount after more than a decade of inactive development, with Netflix planning to release it in late 2022 or early 2023.
Golden Globe winner and Oscar contender David Fincher will direct Netflix’s The Killer. Fincher is recognized for highly acclaimed films such as Gone Girl, Mank, The Social Network, Zodiac, Se7en, and many others.
In fact, for Netflix’s The Killer, Fincher will reunite with Se7en writer Andrew Kevin Walker. Walker also penned the Oscar-winning The Wolfman and the Johnny Depp-starring Sleepy Hollow in 1999. Fincher’s long-time producing collaborator Ceán Chaffin is in charge of the project.

Despite the fact that Fincher had been nearly solely working with Netflix for the previous five years, he signed a four-year pact in November 2020. Fincher has worked on some of the most popular Netflix shows in the last decade, including Mank, Love Death & Robots, House of Cards, and Mindhunter.
The Killer on Netflix is based on the same-named French graphic novel by author Alexis Nolent (pen name Matz) and illustrator Luc Jacamon. The first book was released in 1998, while the most recent one was released in 2017.

It’s yet unclear whether elements of the graphic novel will be turned into the film, but if The Killer is a hit, there may be a potential for sequels.
Michael Fassbender, an Oscar and Golden Globe nominee best known for his roles in X-Men, 12 Years a Slave, Steve Jobs, Macbeth, and other films, will star in Netflix’s The Killer. Fassbender will portray the titular killer, who acquires a conscience throughout the course of the film. Brad Pitt was said to be in the running for the part at one time.

According to a recent Production Weekly listing, The Killer’s Louisiana unit will be operational from December 14, 2021 until February 14, 2022.
The film’s production was transferred to Chicago in February 2022, according to Screen Magazine. Filming will take place in part at Union Station in downtown Chicago, the River West district near Chicago Avenue, the Bucktown neighbourhood at Fullerton and Western, and Halsted Street, according to their report. According to them, production will continue until March 17th, 2022, when all shooting will be completed and the film will enter post-production.

We can certainly expect Netflix’s The Killer to be released somewhere in the second half of 2022 or perhaps 2023, given its new November 2021 production start.
