Welcome to a peek ahead at what’s coming on Netflix in the United States over the next seven days. There are several new releases, as well as the typical first-of-the-month movie rotation. Here’s what’s coming to Netflix between February 28th and March 6th, 2022.
While there are a lot of new releases on Netflix this week, there are also a lot of deletions. The Marvel Netflix series will be leaving on Tuesday before moving to Hulu later this year.
Because there are so many new movies that arrive on Netflix on the first of the month (this is when movie deals with studios like Sony and Warner Brothers renew), we’ve chosen a few that you should watch:
V for Vendetta (film, 2005) – This moving 2005 sci-fi is set in a future Britain under dictatorship, with preparations in the works to eventually defeat it. Given the events of the last week, this is depressingly timely.
Top Gun (film, 1986) – While we’ve been waiting nearly two years (Maverick is set to be released in May) for the new film, we’ll be able to lock and load with the original Tom Cruise film hitting Netflix for the first time in a long time.
2018 – Beirut This film (formerly known as The Negotiator) entirely slipped under my radar despite excellent performances by Jon Hamm and Rosamund Pike. After a fatal occurrence at his residence, a US diplomat escapes Lebanon in 1972. Ten years later, he is summoned to war-torn Beirut by CIA agents to negotiate for the life of a buddy he abandoned.
The CW’s Two Sentence Horror Stories is an often-overlooked show on the network, which is partially justified by the network’s less-than-stellar evaluations. Having said that, the third season’s evaluations appear to indicate that the series has gone a long way.
The format will be recognizable to fans of Black Mirror or The Twilight Zone. Every episode begins with a whole new premise, and season 3 includes stories like five high school seniors who become prey to a monster, a fulfilment center manager attempting to stay productive during a virus epidemic, and a man and his girlfriend visiting an Old West re-enactment for their podcast. A fourth season premiered in early 2022.
