Mike Flanagan’s The Fall Of The House Of Usher: Everything We Know

Here’s all we know about Mike Flanagan’s upcoming Netflix horror series The Fall of the House of Usher. The highly renowned horror director is noted for adapting some of the best horror stories of the twentieth century, including works by Shirley Jackson, Stephen King, and Edgar Allen Poe, who is now considered a classic writer. Despite the fact that many fans were anticipating for the next part in Netflix’s The Haunting series, Flanagan’s following two films, The Midnight Club and The Fall of the House of Usher, lead audiences down a new horror path.

Midnight Mass, Flanagan’s most recent Netflix production, is a vampire-centered religious horror thriller that has received widespread critical and popular praise. While Flanagan is well known for his loose interpretations of old stories, the TV series Midnight Mass was an original concept that he had already put as an Easter egg in one of his earlier films. The ensemble cast, which was mostly made up of Flanagan’s former collaborators from his films and Netflix Haunting TV episodes, was one of the greatest features of Midnight Mass.

Netflix’s horror collaborations with Mike Flanagan haven’t disappointed after such a great few years of horror TV, making his forthcoming projects some of the most eagerly awaited. While Flanagan hasn’t revealed many specifics about The Fall of the House of Usher, the filmmaker and Netflix have provided some key clues to help build anticipation for the show. Here’s everything we know about The Fall of the House of Usher so far, including the plot, actors, and release date.

While Mike Flanagan’s new Netflix program isn’t The Fall of the House of Usher, the anticipation for the series is increasing. The Fall of the House of Usher will be followed by Flanagan’s The Midnight Club, a series about a group of terminally sick teenagers who have made a deal to speak with each other from beyond the grave when the first of them dies. The Midnight Club will launch on Netflix in mid-to-late 2022, with great hopes following the success of Midnight Mass. (no relation). The Fall of the House of Usher isn’t intended to tie in with any of Flanagan’s other works, but it will keep up with his supernatural horror legacy.

The cast of The Fall of the House of Usher includes several actors from Mike Flanagan’s past Netflix productions, as one could anticipate from a Mike Flanagan project. Kate Siegel, Rahul Kohli, Henry Thomas, Annabeth Gish, Carla Gugino, T’Nia Miller, and Samantha Sloyan return in The Fall of the House of Usher from The Haunting series and Midnight Mass. Zachary Gilford and Michael Trucco are also back from Midnight Mass. Mark Hamill from Star Wars, Mary McDonnell as Madeline Usher, Frank Langella as Roderick Usher, Paola Nuez, and Carl Lumbly (from Flanagan’s Doctor Sleep) as investigator C. Auguste Dupin join the cast of The Fall of the House of Usher on Netflix.

While The Fall of the House of Usher is based on several Poe works, it is largely an adaptation of Edgar Allen Poe’s short tale of the same name. The show is narrated by a guy who has been invited to see his boyhood buddy Roderick Usher, who lives with his sister in a house that he claims has magical influence over its residents. Mike Flanagan’s Netflix horror TV drama is characterized as a modern retelling of Edgar Allan Poe stories about family, greed, tragedy, and redemption.

Because production for The Fall of the House of Usher only began on January 31, 2022, Netflix has yet to declare an official release date, but the filming timetable for Midnight Mass might assist predict its launch date. Midnight Mass began production in August 2020 and will debut in September 2021, indicating that The Fall of the House of Usher will be released on Netflix somewhere in the winter or early spring of 2023.
