The sequel to the 2014 film The Pirates, Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure, had its world debut on January 26 in South Korea. Since then, the film has gone on to become the first Korean film to reach a million viewers in 2022.
The film will be released concurrently in over 190 countries on Netflix, a first for a Korean film on the platform. It will be available in 31 subtitle languages and 8 dubbing languages.
The forthcoming historical action-adventure comedy Pirates: The Goblin Flag follows a crew of eccentric treasure hunters who take to the seas in pursuit of hidden wealth.

The dramatic new video starts with a quick look of the wealth, followed by action-packed footage of the crew’s trip and the challenges they face.
Kang Ha-neul, who portrays bandit commander Woo Moo-chi, and Han Hyo-joo, who plays pirate captain and ship owner Hae Rang, will star in the film. Lee Kwang-soo, EXO’s Sehun, Kwon Sang-woo, Chae Soo-bin, and others round up the rest of the cast of Pirates: The Goblin Flag.
Kim Jung-hoon directed Pirates: The Goblin Flag, and he also directed and wrote the screenplays for The Accidental Detective (2015) and Petty Romance (2010). Chun Sung-il, who also authored the original Pirates film, created the screenplay for this sequel.

In September, nine members of the cast appeared in a House On Wheels spin-off episode titled Lending You My House On Wheels, in which the original show’s cast – actors Sung Dong-il and Kim Hee-won – “[lend] their keys to [the newcomers], who will live in the house on wheels without the owners present.”
