Rick Riordan’s Percy Jackson & the Olympians books are the inspiration for both the Percy Jackson movie and the planned Disney+ series. 2010 brought us Chris Columbus’ first adaptation of J.K. Rowling’s novels for film, following his work on Home Alone 2 and Harry Potter’s first two instalments.

The first film was Percy Jackson & the Olympians: The Lightning Thief, which was followed in 2012 by Percy Jackson & the Sea of Monsters.

Like Percy Jackson, Logan Lerman took the lead role in the new Disney+ series starring Alexandra Daddario. In addition to Jackson, Coogan, Bean, Pierce Brosnan, Thurman, Rosario, and Daddario, the cast included Coogan, Jackson, and Dawson. Daddario stayed in the role of Annabeth Chase, the goddess Athena’s daughter, even though other performers took their places.

The third instalment was placed on hold after both films garnered poor reviews from critics and audiences. However, a live-action series based on the adventures of Percy Jackson will air on Disney+. There’s no sign that any of the original cast members, including Daddario, will be involved in the new series.

During an appearance on the WrapWomen’s UnWrapped podcast, Daddario was asked if she will be a part of the future Percy Jackson series. In response to the question, Daddario quipped, “No, I don’t think so.” A few minutes later, she described how much she had grown as a person as a result of working on the film, saying, “I liked it.” As a tribute to Percy Jackson, Daddario is excited to see what the future holds for the performers who will follow in his footsteps.

Read Daddario’s thoughts in the comments section below:

“No! No, Percy Jackson was my favourite. I, for one, couldn’t get enough of it. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I walked into Percy Jackson and accepted the job offer. In New York City, I was a minor performer, you know? I was just a youngster working at a bar, so I had no idea what all the fuss was about in Hollywood.

“I can’t wait to see how these young actors will inspire a new generation of girls and women.” For whatever reason, Annabeth inspires people. It’s cool. However, that’s the extent of my knowledge on the subject, and it shouldn’t be! To put it another way, I was merely the “girl in the movie,”

The Percy Jackson series, now in development at Disney, has Riordan working with the creative team. Riordan is rumoured to be penning the majority of the show’s scripts, with the intention of delivering a more satisfying conclusion to viewers than the films delivered. Director James Bobin, who previously directed The Muppets in 2011, is set to direct the pilot. The full cast has yet to be disclosed.
