According to reports, Kanye West is ‘in line’ to take over as creative director of Louis Vuitton, a premium fashion house. Before his untimely demise less than two weeks ago, Virgil Abloh served as the brand’s artistic director for menswear.
When Kanye West launched his Yeezy clothing brand in 2013, it immediately became one of the most popular apparel lines in the world. Since he was good friends with fashion superstar Virgil Abloh, the actor has been linked to a new post at LV, according to reports.
Virgil and Kanye have discussed the job, according to insiders.
A source informed The Sun that Kanye was “devastated” by the loss of Virgil since the two had been friends for years and collaborated frequently. Because of this, Kanye feels obligated to continue working at Louis Vuitton in honour of Virgil. The Mirror has reached out to Kanye’s and LVMH’s reps for comment.
The two have been pals since 2009, when they first met. In fact, Kanye’s own company, Donda, had the designer on staff as creative director. Virgil, the 41-year-old creator of Off-White, passed away last month following a long struggle with cancer that was kept a secret from the public. While honouring the late fashion designer, LVMH disclosed that he had been suffering from an aggressive form of cancer known as cardiac angiosarcoma for more than two years.
According to a statement from LVMH, “LVMH, Louis Vuitton, and Off White are deeply saddened to announce the death of Virgil Abloh,” who passed away on November 28th of cancer. Virgil’s family also wrote a statement on his Instagram account, describing him as a “fiercely loyal father, and friend”. Their supporters’ affection and support was also acknowledged in a statement.

The claim stated: “Virgil Abloh, a loving father, husband, son, brother, and friend, has passed away. We are heartbroken. Lowe Abloh and Grey Abloh; his wife Shannon; his sister Edwina; his parents Nee and Eunice Abloh; and a host of close friends and colleagues are mourning his passing.
“Virgil fought a rare and severe form of cancer, cardiac angiosarcoma, for more than two years. He has chosen to fight in secret, undergoing a slew of difficult treatments while also serving as the head of a number of prominent organisations in the fields of fashion, art, and culture.”
