A new fashion sustainability programme introduced by the Textile and Fashion Federation (TaFF)

This fashion sustainability programme, which was recently introduced by the Textile and Fashion Federation (TaFF), will develop toolkits for businesses to adopt, introduce talent capability development programmes in order to explore and capitalise on opportunities in the green economy.

In order to support the efforts of ESP, the programme has been established. This project will also assist in raising environmental consciousness and enhancing individual and collective sustainability capacities within local communities. Singapore alone produces 137,000 tonnes of fashion and textile waste, but just 4% is recycled, according to a news statement from Taff.

To put it another way, “Fashion” encompasses much more than simply clothes and jewellery. As a society, we should expand our definition of the fashion business to embrace its whole value chain. So, Wilson Teo, TaFF president, says, “We will seek to develop dynamic ecosystems for sustainability that cover the full, from raw materials and production to brands and technological innovations.”

A three-year, S$2.75 million investment from the program’s key partner RGE Pte Ltd will support sustainability activities. With TaFF’s strategic partnership, we are pleased to help raise public awareness and foster industry collaboration toward sustainable fashion.” Sustainable fashion relies on the use of natural, biodegradable, ethically sourced materials that are for useful lives. RGE’s president, Tey Wei Lin, stated, “We look forward to offering our knowledge as raw material provider in support of the initiative.

Ecosystems and partnerships are at the heart of our message to the fashion industry. As head of the program’s steering committee, Nicole van der Elst aims to contribute a holistic perspective to the development of the programme.
We showcased a group of new sustainability brands, materials, and technological solutions during the launch of TaFF. TaFF incubation programme (TBFI) alumni BHuman and Mycotech are among the companies in this group.

“Enterprise competencies may be bolstered through industry relationships. “As trade organisations and chambers play an important role in improving sector-specific competencies, we are delighted by TaFF’s efforts to foster sustainability in the textile and apparel sector,” said Alan Yeo. To speed things up, we’ll be working with business partners like RGE Group. In the future, we expect to see more firms in all industries begin to integrate sustainability into their growth strategies.
