Adele Announces a January Residency in Las Vegas

Adele

Adele, the Grammy Award-winning singer, has announced an exclusive residency in the Colosseum of Caesars Palace Hotel in Las Vegas, which will begin on Friday, January 21, 2022.

According to Variety.com, Adele will play two gigs each weekend through Saturday, April 16, 2022, for a total of 12 weeks.

The long-awaited news follows Adele’s fourth studio album, ’30,’ on Columbia Records, which opened at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week with by far the highest first-week sales of the year, roughly 839,000 units.

It debuted at No. 1 on album charts in 30 countries and is already one of the year’s best-selling albums; it surpassed Taylor Swift’s ‘Evermore,’ which had sold 462,000 copies in 11 months, to become the year’s best-selling album in just three days.

Adele’s notoriously chatty concerts, which find her stately and often-sad songs clashing with her raunchy humour and witty, self-deprecating conversation, take place in the Colosseum, which has an official capacity of 4,100.

Except for February 18-19, when Van Morrison, who has spoken out against the Covid-19 vaccination, performs at the arena, Adele’s gigs are spread out across multiple weekends.

Caesars Palace does not appear to have any vaccination requirements for these or any other shows.

The Las Vegas residency concerts are the only concert dates Adele has announced in promotion of ’30’ so far, along with two dates in London’s Hyde Park next summer and her recent ‘One Night Only’ special shot at the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles.

These appear to be a method for her to play live while avoiding the risks and complexities of touring amid the ongoing Covid-19 outbreak, which has seen numerous musicians, including Jon Bon Jovi and Bryan Adams, test positive with the virus while on the road.

Avoiding the dangers of the stage. Popular recording artists’ Las Vegas residencies are frequently extended beyond their initial term, though no details on Adele’s extension were immediately available. Celine Dion has performed almost a thousand shows in Las Vegas over long-running residencies.
