Black Widow

Marvel Studios’ Black Widow got its much-awaited release on June 29 and left the Marvel fanatics dazzled with its high power action and performance. Essaying the role for longer than a decade at this point, fans would have a hard time imagining another actor play the role of Black Widow other than Scarlett Johansson. Be that as it may, the role didn’t come easy to the actor as she opened about her initial failure to bag the role.

While talking to BBC Radio 1, Johansson revealed how she passed up the chance to bag the role of Black Widow in Iron Man 2. The actor admitted that she was an enormous fan of the Iron Man film, Johansson wished to work with Jon Favreau and Robert Downey Jr in the second installment of the film. Notwithstanding, the actor revealed that she was ‘pretty bummed’ after failing to land the role.

It seemed like the role was in Scarlett Johansson’s fate after all, as the 36-year-old revealed that the actor originally cast for the role had to back out because of a clashing schedule. This drove the director of the Iron Man film Jon Favreau to offer the role to Johansson who enthusiastically accepted the role. In the same meeting, the actor had an expression of advice to the growing actors on the ordeal of getting roles. Stating, “each chance is a chance to work”, Johansson added, “you’ll never improve call than when you suspected you lost an employment then, at that point got it”.

The actor originally cast for the role was A Quiet Place actor Emily Blunt. She turned down the Marvel superhero role because of her obligation to Gulliver’s Travels the same year. Emily Blunt spoke on the subject at the Howard Stern Show saying, “I was contacted to do Gulliver’s Travels. I would not like to do Gulliver’s Travels. It was somewhat of a heartbreaker for me because I take such pride in the choices that I make and they mean such a huge amount to me, the movies that I do”.
