It has been reported that a new character from a well-known Star Wars animated series will be introduced in The Mandalorian Season 3, following the live-action debut of Ahsoka Tano and Bo-Katan Kryze.

According to a report by Making Star Wars, Kevin McKidd, known for his role in Grey’s Anatomy, is rumored to be reprising his role as Fenn Rau from Star Wars Rebels in the upcoming season of The Mandalorian on Disney+. If this casting rumor turns out to be true, it will mark McKidd’s return to the Star Wars universe after six years since voicing Fenn Rau in seven episodes of Rebels. McKidd would also be following in the footsteps of Katee Sackhoff, who successfully made the transition from voicing Bo-Katan in The Clone Wars series to live-action in The Mandalorian Season 2.

Fenn Rau, a Clone Wars veteran who led The Mandalorian Protectors of Concord Dawn during the Empire’s reign, was introduced in Star Wars Rebels. He was renowned for his piloting skills and commanded the Fang Fighter in combat. In addition to Fenn Rau, rumors suggest that Sabine Wren, another pilot of the Fang Fighter from the animated series, may make an appearance in The Mandalorian Season 3. Interestingly, Fenn Rau and Sabine Wren were initially enemies but eventually became respected comrades of the Rebellion. Even if Sabine Wren does not appear in The Mandalorian, her live-action debut has already been confirmed in the upcoming Ahsoka series, where she will be played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo.

What to expect from The Mandalorian Season 3 surprises

Pedro Pascal, the lead actor of The Mandalorian, had promised viewers that the third season of the popular sci-fi drama would contain surprises that are on par with Luke Skywalker’s appearance in Season 2. He hinted that there would be epic character introductions and more secrets to keep. Given Pascal’s statement and the fact that he had previously confirmed the debut of more Mandalorian warriors in Season 3 for a “big epic battle,” the potential appearances of Fenn Rau and Sabine Wren would be a natural fit.

The Mandalorian is a sci-fi series that takes place shortly after the events of Return of the Jedi in 1983. It follows the adventures of Din Djarin, a space bounty hunter, and a Force-sensitive foundling named Grogu. In the upcoming Season 3, Din Djarin and Grogu will be joined by several recurring characters, including Bo-Katan played by Sackhoff, The Armorer played by Emily Swallow, Greef Karga played by Carl Weathers, Peli Motto played by Amy Sedaris, and Moff Gideon played by Giancarlo Esposito. Additionally, guest appearances by Christopher Lloyd from Back to the Future and Tim Meadows from Saturday Night Live have been confirmed for the new season.
