More information has been coming in about the much-anticipated series, Daredevil: Born Again, as preparations are being made for its production. According to a report from The Hollywood Reporter, Sandrine Holt has been cast as Vanessa Fisk, the wife of the villainous character Wilson Fisk (aka Kingpin), who Vincent D’Onofrio will portray. Holt was one of the first actors to be added to the show’s cast, but her role had been kept under wraps by Marvel, until now. This news comes shortly after another exciting casting announcement earlier in the week, revealing that Jon Bernthal would be reprising his role as The Punisher.

With the addition of Vanessa Fisk to the cast, it appears that Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock will not only have to contend with one villain in Daredevil: Born Again. While plot details for the upcoming series are being kept under wraps, Marvel has suggested that the show will stay true to the Netflix version, leaving room for speculation about what we can expect. In the third season finale of the Netflix show, Vanessa Fisk was introduced as a potential major villain. Still, unfortunately, her character did not have the opportunity to fully develop before the series was canceled. However, given her role in Kingpin’s criminal activities, she could play a significant part in Born Again. With The Punisher by his side, Daredevil will have some assistance in dealing with the challenges ahead, particularly as The Punisher is known for his ruthless approach to dealing with criminals.

Marvel has been tight-lipped about the upcoming show’s plot, but it is known that the title, Daredevil: Born Again, is taken from a 1986 comic book story. However, the plot may differ significantly with the introduction of new characters not featured in the original comic. Charlie Cox, who plays the titular character, has suggested that the series will target a more mature audience than most MCU shows, but it won’t be as dark as the previous Netflix version of Daredevil. Instead, he compared the tone of Born Again to recent MCU shows like Spider-Man: No Way Home and She-Hulk: Attorney at Law, where his character made brief appearances.

Sandrine Holt is taking on the role of Vanessa Fisk in Daredevil: Born Again, following in the footsteps of Ayelet Zurer, who played the character in the Netflix series. Holt is a highly experienced television actress, appearing in major productions such as American Gigolo, Better Call Saul, and Homeland. She has also had roles in other popular shows, including Mr. Robot and House of Cards. On the film side, she has appeared in Resident Evil: Apocalypse and Underworld: Awakening.

With the announcement of Sandrine Holt’s role as Vanessa Fisk, she joins Charlie Cox, Vincent D’Onofrio, and Jon Bernthal as the only cast members whose roles have been revealed. The roles of other cast members, including Michael Gandolfini, Margarita Levieva, and Michael Gaston, are still unknown. The show’s pilot episode will be directed by Michael Cuesta, who has previously directed for the television series Dexter. The script for the series was developed by Matt Corman, Chris Ord, Jill Blankenship, and Grainne Godfree, who has previously worked on DC’s Arrow.

Production is set to commence later this month in New York. The series, which is part of Phase 5 of the MCU, is scheduled to premiere in the spring of 2024. The first season will consist of 18 episodes.
