This week’s episode of Saturday Night Live will be hosted by Jenna Ortega, who will be joined by 1975 as the musical guest. During the show’s announcement, the actress best known for her role in Wednesday, cheerfully introduced the band, clarifying that she does not want to be associated with her character in any way.

SNL has released a new promotional video featuring Jenna Ortega and Bowen Yang, who introduce the musical guest for the upcoming episode. The one-minute clip follows the traditional SNL promos format and includes several humorous takes. During one of the takes, Yang interrupts Ortega as she happily delivers her line. When Ortega tries to distance herself from her famous portrayal of Wednesday Addams, Yang jokingly comments on how “freaky” it is.

A day ago, Jenna Ortega was captured performing the famous Wednesday dance with some reluctance in the first SNL promo skit. The video showcased the Please Don’t Destroy trio, comprising Ben Marshall, John Higgins, and Martin Herlihy, dressed in gothic dresses resembling Wednesday’s costume. In a recent promo for the show, Bowen Yang pokes fun at the creator of SNL, Lorne Michaels, by jokingly revealing that “Jenna Ortega is Lorne Michaels‘ real name.” Michaels is an executive producer for the show and has previously worked as a writer and producer as well.

Since its debut in 1975, SNL has been widely popular due to its blend of sketch comedy, political satire, parodies, and commentary on current events. The show still tapes in front of a live audience and airs every Saturday night, nearly five decades later. The only change is that viewers can now stream the show on Peacock. Jenna Ortega has made a name for herself as a “horror queen,” having recently starred in the genre in films such as Scream VI, which will hit theaters on Friday, March 10th. The 20-year-old actress earned her first Golden Globes nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy for her work on the horror comedy, Wednesday. Ortega is also recognized for her roles in various other TV shows, including Jane the Virgin, Stuck in the Middle, You, and many more.

Following in the footsteps of Travis Kelce and Woody Harrelson, Jenna Ortega will be the next host of SNL on March 11, 2023, with 1975 as the musical guest. This will be the first time Ortega and the band appear in the SNL studio. Check out the latest promo below:
