David Harbour, who portrays Detective Jim Hopper in the Netflix series Stranger Things, revealed at the Middle East Film & Comic Con in Abu Dhabi that filming for the show’s fifth and final season will commence in June. This update brings fans closer to revisiting the Upside Down.

While Harbour did not reveal much about the storyline, it is reassuring to know that Hopper will return to the United States. The actor mentioned that his character spent most of the fourth season in a Russian prison. In the last moments of Season 4, seeing Hopper reunited with Joyce and Eleven was a standout moment that will likely be carried over to the show’s final episodes.

Although the announcement is thrilling, it may also elicit mixed emotions from followers of the long-standing science fiction/horror show. Fans have been following these cherished characters for more than half a decade and through four seasons. While the release date is currently unknown, 2024 seems to be the most probable. Until then, viewers should treasure every moment spent with these characters, as they continue to enjoy their time in Hawkins.

In July 2016, Netflix launched Stranger Things, a show that tracks the lives of residents in the fictional small town of Hawkins, Indiana, as they confront a belligerent alternate dimension called the “Upside Down,” which was caused by a human experimentation facility that opened a gateway between the two worlds. The Duffer Brothers are the creators of this series, which has amassed a large fan base on Netflix and has undoubtedly become one of the platform’s most renowned programs.

Stranger Things features a cast that includes David Harbour, Winona Ryder, and Millie Bobby Brown, as well as Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Caleb McLaughlin, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Cara Buono, Maya Hawke, Sadie Sink, Priah Ferguson, and Brett Gelman. The show is produced by Shawn Levy, who has worked on films like Free Guy and Real Steel, and Dan Cohen.
