Tom Cruise, who has portrayed IMF agent Ethan Hunt in the Mission Impossible movies for over two decades, has performed many bold and daring stunts throughout the franchise. In a recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Cruise disclosed that the plane stunt in Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation, released in 2015, frightened his mother, Mary Lee South, who passed away in 2017. Some of his other dangerous and well-known feats include scaling the Burg Khalifa in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol.

Tom Cruise shared how he showed his mother the Mission: Impossible stunt where he hung off the side of an A400 aircraft, causing her to fear for his safety. Here’s what Cruise had to say about the incident:

Anticipated stunts in Mission: Impossible 7 & 8

Cruise has a track record of pushing the limits with his stunts in the Mission Impossible movies, and it seems like the upcoming two-part finale will continue the trend. The first installment, Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, is slated for release in theaters this summer and promises to feature Cruise’s most perilous stunt to date. The trailer and a subsequent featurette have revealed that Cruise will ride his motorcycle off a cliff, release the bike, and free-fall before deploying his parachute.

While the upcoming film “Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” will showcase Tom Cruise’s most perilous stunt yet, it’s expected that he will outdo himself once again in “Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two,” which may mark his final appearance in the franchise. Director Christopher McQuarrie has hinted that the stunts in the second part will be some of Cruise’s most ambitious yet, potentially surpassing even his recent work on “Top Gun: Maverick.” While no official information has been released, set photos have shown Cruise paragliding off a mountain and hanging off the wing of an airplane. Only time will reveal the full extent of the stunts to come in the future of the Mission Impossible series for Cruise.
