Ryan Reynolds and Shawn Levy, who are working together on Deadpool 3, have collaborated on a new comedy film called ‘Boy Band‘. The film will be produced by the duo, and Levy may also direct it. Reynolds not only stars in the film, but he also wrote the script with Jesse Andrews, who is known for his work on the film ‘Me and Earl and the Dying Girl‘.
Although the plot details are being kept under wraps, Ryan Reynolds came up with the concept for the film, which is titled ‘Boy Band‘. As the title suggests, the movie is about a boy band reunion. It is unclear which character Reynolds will play in the film, but given his performance in the Apple TV+ Christmas film, Spirited, it is likely that he will portray one of the boys, possibly the frontman. Although Reynolds is best known for his role as Deadpool in the Marvel movie series, his performance in Spirited showed that he has the qualities needed to lead a boy band.
While working on Spirited, Ryan Reynolds took on the role mainly because it gave him the opportunity to fulfill one of his lifelong dreams of working with Will Ferrell. In an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Reynolds initially described the gig as a “one-time-only deal” and was unlikely to take on similar roles in the future. However, his experience in the film seems to have sparked a newfound interest in singing and dancing. Reynolds admitted to questioning the idea of enduring the 3-month-long choreography rehearsals, but he enjoyed the process and expressed his love for being on the dance floor. Despite the challenging preparation, Spirited received positive reviews, with many praising the chemistry between Reynolds and Ferrell.
Ryan Reynolds will produce ‘Boy Band’ through his production company Maximum Effort, which has a first-look deal with Paramount. Shawn Levy will make the film through his production company 21 Laps Entertainment. The duo has previously collaborated on films such as Free Guy, The Adam Project, and the upcoming Deadpool 3, which will feature Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Levy is also considering directing ‘Boy Band’, but his involvement will depend on his availability since he has a busy schedule. Production for ‘Boy Band’ is expected to commence sometime between fall and early next year. If you still need to watch it, you can check out the trailer for Spirited, in which Reynolds showcases his frontman moves like Jagger.
