The 2023 schedule of superhero movies has commenced, and the upcoming release in March is Shazam! Fury of the Gods. This film is a sequel to the popular 2019 movie Shazam! and is based on the DC Comics superhero of the same name. It is once again directed by David F. Sandberg and stars Zachary Levi. The plot follows the Shazam Family as they confront the daughters of Atlas. Recently, a ScreenX poster for the movie was unveiled, giving fans a glimpse of the thrilling battle that awaits DC’s beloved superhero family.
The newly unveiled ScreenX poster, which Screen Rant exclusively revealed, features the main characters of Shazam! Fury of the Gods. The poster shows Zachary Levi’s Shazam and Djimon Hounsou’s Wizard flanked by the antagonistic daughters of Atlas, consisting of Lucy Liu’s Kalypso, Helen Mirren’s Hespera, and Rachel Zegler’s Anthea. Below them are the other Shazam family members, including Grace Caroline Currey’s Mary, Meagan Good’s Darla, Ross Butler’s Eugene, D. J. Cotrona’s Pedro, and Adam Brody’s Freddy, standing on the remains of a battlefield. The poster’s setting, which features a hazy and moody sunset, along with a few lightning strikes, adds to the overall ambiance of the ScreenX experience.
What is the plot of the Fury of the Gods’?
In Fury of the Gods, the sequel to the first Shazam! movie, Billy and his foster family are trying to adapt to their new lives as superheroes. However, their peace is disrupted when the daughters of Atlas, who are original characters for the film, arrive and demand Shazam’s power, which they claim belongs to their godly father. As a result, tension arises within the Shazam Family as the sisters work to restore the Wizard’s staff that Billy had broken in the previous film. The demigod sisters gradually regain their powers, leaving Shazam! as the last hope to stop them and reclaim his family’s powers.
With just a month left for the release of the movie, the trailers released so far have promised an even more thrilling and captivating adventure, while still maintaining the heart of the original film that won over the audience. The action sequences, which were previously underappreciated, appear to be even more breathtaking, as DC’s universe of gods is further expanded with the addition of dragons and unicorns. The danger seems to be more intense than ever, as the daughters of Atlas, Kalypso, and Hespera, are ruthless and unforgiving. Yet, the solution to their defeat may rest with Anthea, who appears to be developing an intimate relationship with Freddy in the story.
The theatrical release of Shazam! Fury of the Gods is set for March 17, 2023. As we eagerly anticipate the superhero film’s premiere, you can check out the newly unveiled ScreenX poster below:
