Although Hollywood celebs are known to be the most active users on social media with many prominent figures including the stars from movie industry as well as music industry, some celebs over the years have chosen to completely stay away from it. One such actress is Jennifer Lawrence.
The Oscar winning actress has never felt comfortable enough to interact with the netizens through social media. Fans have been on a mission to arrive at a proper explanation for the star’s absence on socials and looks like they’ve finally got a response from the actress herself.
The ‘Hunger Games’ star finally revealed why she’s not so fond of social media in a recent interview. The star blamed the unrealistic beauty standards. “If you are 20 pounds underweight and talk about eating pizza and fried chicken all the time. That’s not going to make people feel good about themselves,” she said.
Interestingly, Jennifer mentioned that she does keep an eye on what people are sharing on social media. “I’m on it. But I’m a voyeur: I watch, I don’t speak. There is always so much backlash. So many people are listening and paying attention, and they have so many opinions about absolutely everything. I really don’t want to welcome that unless it’s absolutely necessary,” she shared.
“I don’t want to put myself out there for no reason. Unless I’m promoting something or something really burns my onions, you won’t hear from me,” she further added.
Jennifer Lawrence is finally on Twitter
Although the star gave her all to stay away from social media for years, it seems she’s unable to completely abandon it as she finally admitted to using social media in secret.
The actress said that she only lurks on social media, never interacting with anyone or indulging herself in a conversation. Though the actress doesn’t have a verified account that fans can follow, she does have a specific account to browse the platform.
On her low profile Twitter handle, @JLawrence_RepUs, the star has tweeted many times in the past about social issues involving voter rights, racism, health care and others. She even posted a video in 2020 through that handle asking people to vote.
Jennifer Lawrence’s ‘No Hard Feelings’ is set to arrive in theaters on June 23, 2023.
