British singers Adele, Ed Sheeran reportedly rejected King Charles’ invitation to perform at his upcoming coronation that is set to take place in May. The King apparently shared a list of artists he wants to perform at his coronation concert, which included the two Grammy winning singers. Ed reportedly has a scheduling problem while the reason for Adele’s rejection is yet to be known.

The coronation concert is set to take place on May 7, 2023 at Westminster Abbey to celebrate the crowning of King Charles III and his wife Camilla as King and Queen of the United Kingdom. Charles was named King in September, last year after his mother Elizabeth II’s demise.

According to reports, Charles was expecting Adele and Ed to grace the event.  “The King has suggested a number of people he would like to perform and Adele and Ed were on that list. He was very keen that they were part of the concert,” an insider revealed.

The reports further added, “There is a team set up to get the talent signed up so they approached the two of them, but got replies saying that they were unavailable, which was a massive disappointment. They are titans of the showbiz industry and are quintessentially British but also known across the globe. It’s such a shame.”

Why Ed is not attending?

Ed Sheeran, who’s currently in Sydney as part of his world tour will not be attending the event due to a scheduling conflict as the star is set to perform at a concert in Texas, USA on May 6.

However, reason behind Adele’s rejection is yet to be known as the singer’s schedule is empty after March 25 this year. The ‘Easy on Me’ singer is currently performing in Las Vegas at a special concert series Weekends With Adele, at the Colosseum at Caesar’s Palace, that is scheduled to end in March.

King Charles’ list apparently also comprises Lionel Richie, the Spice Girls and pop star Harry Styles. An official confirmation regarding the set list is yet to be made by Buckingham Palace.
