Halle Bailey told a fan on Instagram that there will be no trailer for her upcoming movie, ‘The Little Mermaid‘ at the Super Bowl.
A fan on Twitter wrote that Halle denied the release of the film’s trailer at this year’s Super Bowl. It also seems that Disney’s focus is just on “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3” and “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” for this year.
Bailey replied to the fan in Instagram DMs when asked about the trailer’s release. She texted, “That’s not true, later on though ..thank you for the constant support but let’s all try and keep the element of surprise with the film..that’s what makes it so exciting!!”
Halle lead ‘The Little Mermaid’ revolves around Ariel, the youngest daughter of King Triton, the ruler of Atlantica, the underwater kingdom. The story takes twists and turns when the princess falls in love with a prince who lives in the world above water.
Halle Bailey talks about the film
Halle Bailey talked about the film and her experience as an actor in an interview with Variety last year. She said, “I find myself learning things from these characters and trying to adopt them and keep them with me as I go about my life. It’s like the universe is trying to give these themes to me, like ‘Here, do it! We’re putting it in through the characters.’”
Bailey talked about becoming only second black female ever to be cast as a Disney princess, “I want the little girl in me and the little girls just like me who are watching to know that they’re special, and that they should be a princess in every single way. There’s no reason that they shouldn’t be. That reassurance was something that I needed.”
The actress also talked about the encouragement she got from her grandparents. She said, “It was an inspiring and beautiful thing to hear their words of encouragement, telling me, ‘You don’t understand what this is doing for us, for our community, for all the little Black and brown girls who are going to see themselves in you,’”
‘The Little Mermaid‘ arrives in theaters on May 26, 2023.
