Lizzo talked about the good damn time she had with Adele at the recently concluded Grammy Awards on the Morning show.
“I was legitimately so drunk. Me and Adele were drinking so much that we didn’t even really know what the categories were at this point,” Lizzo further continued, “We were like, ‘Wait. Did they do best new artist?’ We didn’t even know when it was time and they would just call out names so we were like, ‘Smile, smile.’”
Lizzo also recalled her reaction when her song ‘About Damm Time’ won Record Of The Year. She said, “When they called my name I was in total shock because I didn’t expect to win at all,” she continued, “Let alone a big one… [But] I always knew I had a record of the year.”
The singer shouted Adele out during her acceptance speech. She said, “Let me tell you something. Me and Adele are having a good time just enjoying ourselves, rooting for our friends. This is an amazing night, this is so unexpected.” She added, “Positive and feel-good music wasn’t mainstream at that point and I felt very misunderstood, I felt on the outside looking in, but I stayed true to myself because I wanted to make the world a better place.”
Lizzo recalls Harry sharing the technical mistake that happened during his performance
The singer also shared the conversation she had with Harry Styles post his performance. “I was backstage during Harry’s performance so I didn’t see it in person,” The 34-year-old said. “I definitely watched it on the TV screen in my dressing room and… I didn’t notice at all. And then when I got to my table and then Harry sat down, I was like, ‘Hey!’ I was like, ‘You did so good!’, He was like, ‘The turntable went the wrong way.’ And I was like, ‘Nobody noticed,'”
Lizzo also recalled making joke about it with Harry’s producer, “Don’t tell him we all noticed.”
“I was just joking, and I really didn’t realize it was like, the whole thing was the wrong way,” she explained. “I just thought, one of the times it did something that it wasn’t supposed to do. I didn’t realize the whole performance… I need to apologize to him ’cause like, oh my God, I would’ve been so scared if that was me.”
