American rapper Machine Gun Kelly earned his first ever Grammy nomination this year, in the Best Rock Album category for his work ‘Mainstream Sellout’ but eventually lost to Ozzy Osbourne’s ‘Patient Number 9.’

The rapper talked about his loss and reflected on self-love in a red-carpet interview. He said,” I’m always pretty uncomfortable here, ultimately, I’m really happy to be in the company of such great musicians,” He continued. “I didn’t take the category home, and I almost feel like I asked for that lesson. I felt like I lacked self-love and was valuing myself so much on career accomplishments that I needed this. Once that self-love happens for me, things like the awards and all that will come.”

The interviewer Laverne Cox tried to console Kelly. She said, “The reward is actually getting to be an artist, and getting to do the thing that you love. There’s nothing outside of us that can make us love ourselves more, it has to come from inside.”

Kelly then opened up about focusing more on gratitude lately. He said, “I feel more at peace now than I think I ever have in my life, I had a car ride on the way here to contemplate and just experience gratitude.”

The rapper earlier posted an Instagram Story for his followers. He wrote, “No matter what the outcome is, whether we win the Grammy, I am so happy to have been on this journey exactly how it has turned out,” He said. “I’m grateful for the family I’ve gained, the friends, the shows, the laughs, the cries, all that sh*t. It helped me push to even be here to experience a moment like this, so I mean, look, we already won.”

Machine Gun Kelly receives appreciative words from girlfriend Megan Fox

Actress Megan Fox penned a heartfelt not for Kelly, congratulating him on his first-ever Grammy nomination. She wrote, “Congratulations on being in the very small percentage of artists who have received a Grammy nomination. You have handled this process with a grace and maturity that I haven’t seen from you before and I’m so proud of you,” She further added, “Although those[awards] will come… and this is irrelevant I guess but I will just never ever get over how beautiful your face is. I hope one day you’ll see yourself the way I see you.”
