Grammy winning rapper Doja Cat talks about her next album in an interview with ‘Variety’. She reveals that it will be dropped this year.

The 27-year-old’s last album ‘Planet Her’ was dropped in 2021 which broke several records and is still continuing its good run on the charts. The song ‘Woman’ from the album became a smash hit, collecting over a billion streams on Spotify and is now leading the race in multiple categories at this year’s Grammys.

The ‘say so’ singer said, when asked about new music, “I know that I’ve done a lot of pink and soft things, a lot of pop and glittery sounds but for this next era, I’m going in a more masculine direction.”

Although the singer hasn’t mentioned any particular date, ‘Variety’ reported that it would be sometime this year.

Doja about responding to trolls

The singer talked about why she responds to trolls on socials. She said, “A lot of people think I’m not good at handling trolls because I respond to them. But that’s the art of it: I love to go to fucking war with trolls. That’s just what I’ve grown up with; I’ve been on the internet for 1,000 fucking years and it’s just part of me: that I need to respond. People think, ‘Oh, if you’re defending yourself, you’re weak.’ But I always rest on ‘Everyone can suck my dick from the back.’ I don’t know if you want to write that down. Oh, consider it written. If somebody wants to fight me on the internet, I will gladly join in, balls to the wall. It’s fun for me. I’m a very messy bitch.”

The singer furthered answered whether new music is guaranteed this year, “I don’t know but I do want to make sure that everything I’m doing right now in terms of recording is solidified before I make any decisions. The baby hasn’t been born yet.”
