Adele to miss this year’s Grammys despite being a strong contender in all major categories.

The 65th Grammy Awards is all set to air live on February 5th but many stars haven’t committed to being on this year’s edition as per the HITS Daily Double reports.

First one on the list is Adele. The 34 year old singer was nominated in several categories for her album ‘30’, which marked singer’s first album release in years. The two time AOTY winner is a strong contender for ‘Song Of The Year’, ‘Record Of The Year’ and of course ‘Album Of The Year’. If ‘30’ wins the AOTY, Adele is going to tie Taylor Swift as the female artist with most wins in that category.

Another notable absence will be the 13-time Grammy Award winner Taylor Swift. She too has not committed to being on this year’s edition where her song ‘All Too Well (Ten Minute Version)’ is a strong contender in ‘Song Of The Year’ category. Swift made history in 2021, by becoming the first female artist ever to win the coveted ‘Album Of The Year’ thrice. She has released two re-recordings in the last Grammy eligibility period, ‘Fearless (Taylor’s Version)’ and ‘Red (Taylor’s Version)’. Her absence will sure affect the show’s ratings.

Next star to miss the big night is Beyonce! Beyonce has released her comeback album ‘Renaissance’ which is nominated in several categories and predicted to win most of them. The 28 time Grammy Award winner has been snubbed in major categories from many years and when everyone thought this year it’ll sure be hers, this news is heart-breaking.

Another big artist who might miss this year’s ceremony is Kendrick Lamar! The rapper who was nominated in multiple categories and is strongly predicted to go home with at least one win too is reported to miss the event.

Are Grammys losing their relevance?

Over the years the Recording Academy has been facing criticism for snubbing artists and announcing unexpected winners. Artists like The Weeknd, Zayn Malik, Nicki Minaj have called out the Recording Academy for being unfair and snubbing them repeatedly. The show’s ratings too have been falling the past few editions. This should concern the Academy and drive them to do what’s best to keep the show relevant before it gets too late. Everything aside, this year’s ceremony wouldn’t be the same without all of these stars.
