Everything everywhere all at once scores big, historic day for Indian cinema.
The list of nominees for 95th Academy Awards are out now with Michelle Yeoh becoming only second Asian to get nominated as the best actress, Natu Natu becoming India’s first film song to get nominated.
Everything Everywhere all at Once scores the highest with 11, followed by German movie, All Quiet on the Western Front, and The Banshees of Inisherin with nine nods each.
Malaysian Michelle Yeoh scored a nomination in the best actress category becoming the second Asian to do so in Oscars’ near 100 year history.
Angela Bassett gets nominated in the best supporting actress category thereby becoming the first person from MCU to get an acting nomination, for the film ‘Black Panther : Wakanda Forever’
Noteworthy facts
Furthermore, Golden Globe winning song ‘Naatu Naatu‘ continues it’s glorious run by getting nominated for the best original song, becoming the first Indian song to do so.
This edition’s nominations also saw two sequels, ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ and ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ getting nominated for the best picture for the first time in Oscars’ history.
Interestingly, Cate Blanchett is the only former Oscar winning actor to get a nomination this year.
