It’s not even two weeks since Miley dropped her anticipated comeback song, and the singer is already breaking records left and right

Miley Cyrus dropped her single ‘Flowers’ on January 13. Music fans have already lost count of the number of records she has broken with this song. The song is currently pacing to debut at #1 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100 leading the likes of Taylor Swift, SZA and more. It is also predicted to spend it’s second week too at the top spot.

Records that were shattered

Flowers debuted with around 7.7 million streams on global Spotify. You might be wondering how it broke records with such streaming debut but the actual story started the next day. The song’s daily streams went on skyrocketing day after day. It received 9 million on day 2, 11 million on day 3, 15 million on day 4 and surpassed 17 million the next day on global Spotify.

The song went on to score biggest non-holiday peak in Spotify history surpassing Adele’s ‘Easy On Me’ and Taylor Swift’s ‘Anti Hero’. It also broke record for the biggest streaming week for a song in Spotify history with over 100 million streams, previously held by BTS’s ‘Butter’. Interestingly, she is set to break this record too with the song’s second week performance. It has topped streaming charts on many platforms across the world. Flowers has also become the fastest song to hit 100 million streams in Spotify history.

Is Miley’s ‘Flowers’ about her ex Liam Hemsworth?

Fans have been putting theories out about Miley’s new song right from the start. They are pretty convinced that a lyric in the song which says ‘I can buy myself flowers’ was in response to the song her ex-boyfriend Liam dedicated to her in the past which has the lyric ‘I should’ve bought you flowers’.

Everything aside, Miley’s song really surpassed everyone’s expectations and became the biggest song of the year. She really started the year with a bang and showed the world that she’s still in the game. Let’s wait and see how big of a hit this song is going to become.
