John Legend and Chrissy Teigen welcomed a baby boy on Friday, January 13, 2023, and just hours later, John Legend announced the happy news during a private concert, as reported by People. According to People, the 12-time Grammy Award winner exclaimed to the audience that his wife Chrissy Teigen and they had had “the little baby this morning. What a wonderful day.” In fact, he openly acknowledged that he “didn’t get much sleep,” but he is now feeling rather “energetic” after spending “a lot of time” with the newborn at the hospital.

Chrissy Teigen announced her pregnancy in August 2022 with a touching Instagram post that included a photo of her cutest baby belly. Her post reads, “The last few years have been a blur of emotions to say the least, but joy has filled our home and hearts again.1 billion shots later (in the leg lately, as u can see!) we have another on the way.” She added, “Every appointment I’ve said to myself, ‘OK, if it’s healthy today I’ll announce’ but then I breathe a sigh of relief to hear a heartbeat and decide I’m just too nervous still. I don’t think I’ll ever walk out of an appointment with more excitement than nerves but so far, everything is perfect and beautiful and I’m feeling hopeful and amazing. OK phew it’s been very hard keeping this in for so long!”

Along with the newest member of the family, Chrissy and Legend are also parents to Miles, 4, and Luna, 6, all of whom are young children. In fact, the couple made headlines when they tragically lost their son Jack in September 2020, barely 20 weeks into his pregnancy. A few time after she revealed she was expecting, Chrissy spoke candidly about her older children’s excitement for a new sibling in an interview with ET.

Chrissy said, “[Lune’s] so nurturing and loving and so she’s just very, very exciting.” She added, “Miles is a little more on the fence, because Luna is always going to be the big girl, right? But Miles is, you know, not going to be the baby anymore.” She further said, “We spend a lot more time with him and telling him that he’s always going to be our baby boy. That’s it for us. So, I mean, he’s going to be the best. He’s going to be so good.” John Legend also added, “They have each other, you know, Luna and Miles will be older siblings now and there’s enough of a gap to where we don’t have to micromanage their every moment.”
