After taking a midseason vacation, Criminal Minds: Evolution is back on Paramount+, and we now have official word that a second season is in the works. From 2005 to 2020, CBS broadcast Criminal Minds, one of the network’s most well-liked original series. The show ran for 15 seasons. The programme was revived as a Paramount+ streaming exclusive. Many of the main figures from the original series returned in the spinoff, now known as Criminal Minds: Evolution, including David Rossi (Joe Mantegna), Penelope Garcia (Kirsten Vangsness), Jennifer Jareau (A.J. Cook), Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez), Tara Lewis (Aisha Tyler), and Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster).

Season 2 of Criminal Minds: Evolution has reportedly been renewed by Paramount+, according to Deadline. Tanya Giles, the chief programming officer of Paramount Streaming, reacted on the renewal, calling the show’s comeback a success and promising more sinister turns in the future. Despite the dramatic mid-season finale cliffhanger that saw JJ and Luke on the verge of death after being thrown back by the detonation of an explosive trap set by antagonist Elias Voit, Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1 has had its share of twists.

While Criminal Minds: Evolution was able to reunite the majority of the original series cast for the Paramount+ season 1 premiere, a few fan favourites were unable to make the transition. One of the most noticeable absences on the show has been that of Dr. Spencer Reid (Matthew Gray Gubler), although Reid’s return to Criminal Minds is still a possibility. When the show resumes, the BAU comes back together to tackle a fresh case involving the pursuit of Elias Voit and his criminal organisation. Sadly, they are forced to manage it without the team’s adored young genius. Due to a schedule issue with his appearance in the now-cancelled comedy series Dollface on Hulu, Gubler was unable to return.

What to expect from Criminal Minds: Evolution Season 2?

After a brief holiday break, Criminal Minds: Evolution season 1 is currently in its second half, and the climax to the new plot is gradually drawing near. The BAU will probably stop Elias Voit’s evil scheme during the course of the season’s final four episodes, which will pave the way for a new antagonist and a fresh set of perilous challenges for the team. There shouldn’t be any worries about the futures of the numerous returning Criminal Minds characters because it was claimed that many of the returning show stars inked multi-year deals to feature in the Paramount+ exclusive. Criminal Minds: Evolution could undoubtedly benefit from additional original cast members returning, regardless of whether more do so.
